Kinokuniya Books, Midtown, Manhattan

Good news - Kinokuniya is open with social distancing and masks required. Updated 8 February 2021

Kinokuniya Books is a Japanese store that specializes in books and magazines in Japanese. But they also carry a large selection of books in English across different genres. If you’re into anime and comic books they have very extensive collections of those as well. What I especially like is the selection of stationary in the basement.

They occupy 3 floors and the store has been operating in New York City since 1981. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I could spend hours here. And they are located directly across the street from Bryant Park.
