The Lexington Candy Shop Luncheonette is a real treasure! They call themselves a luncheonette rather than a diner and they even have an old soda fountain. A real throwback to a different era. Lexington Candy Shop opened it's doors in 1925!!! The food is standard American cuisine and you can't go wrong with breakfast, sandwiches and burgers. Oh they also have homemade pies, ice cream sundaes and egg creams. Restaurants in NYC don't stick around for over 90 years out of luck. You gotta be really good to make here. They have a collection of Coca-Cola bottles from around the world and throughout the ages in the front window. This is a definite favorite.

Joe Coffee Company is probably my favorite cafe in NYC. They have about a dozen locations. The coffee is consistently good and the atmosphere is always friendly and warm. I will go out of my way to have a really good cup and that includes Joe. There aren't a ton of good cafes in this neighborhood. I recently had breakfast at Neil's Coffee Shop and then a latte at this Joe. The owners are really fabulous as well.

Neil's Coffee Shop is an old school New York City diner. You'll see mostly locals dining here and photos of many famous people who have eaten here as regular. It's a cozy place and a real throwback to a different era. I'm not often in the area but I finally ate there again. I'm never disappointed when I eat here. Breakfast and burgers are great. I've been meaning to try some of their Greek dishes as well. Neil's has been around for about 50 years now! That's a true test of time in this city! Neil's Coffee Shop is a definite must! Oh, they don't have a website!
