Discover New York City

Discover New York City is a guide to the local independent businesses that are the heart and soul of NYC. Support indie businesses!

I love the independent businesses in New York, they are the heart and soul of the city. In this section you will find bookstores, cafés, restaurants, arts & crafts markets and more. It's an ongoing project to list the best of indie New York so visit often to discover the real New York City. Note - I am not compensated for writing these reviews and I'm only writing about the places that I like. I have eaten in restaurants and had coffee in cafes that I had thought that I would write about.

McNally Jackson, Nolita, Manhattan

McNally Jackson is another fabulous independent bookstore in NYC. I love this bookstore! When I find 2 books that I want I immediately go to the cash and pay! Sometimes that only takes about 15 minutes. I need to restrain myself when I'm here. Their selection of poetry, literature, art books and nonfiction books is amazing. As well they sell books about New York City, chapbooks and much more. They also have a very busy café and the food and café lattes are really good. They are situated next to Soho and just above Little Italy. If you love books this store is highly recommended. And if you love to support local businesses like I do. . .
